DG1JAN UniBalun Kit

DG1JAN UniBalun Green PCB's.

This is a fantastic little PCB design from Germany for a lightweight qrp 1:49 UnUn (also 1:9,1:64,... possible) or Balun (1:1, 1:4) .  Giving you the option to configure this PCB as an EFHW, EFRW or Dipole antenna.

Sold as a kit form and supplier with.

  • UniBalun PCB in green
  • Enamelled copper wire
  • Toroid of your choice
  • 100pF 1kv Capacitor
  • 2 x Cable ties

Core options

  • Fair-Rite T82 (5943000501) 20w SSB, 6w Data/CW 80-10m bands.
  • Wurth (74270118) 10w SSB, 3w Data/CW, the best option for 40-10m bands.

Depending on the winding of the toroid, you can use the PCB to create a 1:1 or 1:4 Balun or a 1:49 UnUn.

1:1 Balun: solder a wire jumper between Pad 1 and 3. No capacitor.

1:4 Balun: solder a wire jumper between Pad 1 and 2 and another jumper between Pad 3 and 4. No capacitor.

1:49 Unun: solder a wire-jumper between Pad 1 and 4 on the backside of the PCB (gives better isolation). Solder the capaciator to C1

1:9 Unun: solder a wire-jumper between Pad 1 and 4 on the backside of the PCB (gives better isolation). Solder a Wire on the backside of the PCB between the a' Pad and the GND of the BNC-Plug.

Note

Please check your SWR before using the antenna to ensure you have a good match with your transceiver before use.

The Wurth core is more efficient on the higher bands above 20m do not select the Wurth option if you are mainly using 80m-40m bands.
