DG1JAN UniBalun 1.1 Green PCB's.

This is a fantastic little PCB design in Germany, offers a lightweight 1:49 UnUn.  Or you can configure the PCB to be a 1:9 or1:64 UnUn.  Or a Balun (1:1, 1:4). Giving you the option to configure this PCB as an End Fed Half Wave, End Fed Random Wire, Off Centre Fed Dipole or Dipole antenna.

This unit is a QRP board and is sold in kit form with.

  • UniBalun PCB in green
  • Enamelled copper wire
  • Toroid of your choice
  • 100pF 1kv Capacitor
  • 2 x Cable ties
  • Quality PCB Mount BNC connector

Core options.

  • Fair-Rite T82 (5943000501) 20w SSB, 5w Data/CW 80-10m bands.
  • Wurth (74270118) 10w SSB, 3w Data/CW, the best option for 40-10m bands.

Google DG1JAN UniBalun, you will find a GitHub page with the PCB and how to assemble it.

Depending on the winding of the toroid, you can use the PCB to create a 1:1 or 1:4 Balun or a 1:49 UnUn, via the solder pads.

1:1 Balun: solder a wire jumper between Pad 1 and 3. No capacitor.

1:4 Balun: solder a wire jumper between Pad 1 and 2 and another jumper between Pad 3 and 4. No capacitor.

1:49 Unun: solder a wire-jumper between Pad 1 and 4 on the backside of the PCB (gives better isolation). Solder the capacitor to C1

1:9 Unun: solder a wire-jumper between Pad 1 and 4 on the backside of the PCB (gives better isolation). Solder a Wire on the backside of the PCB between the a' Pad and the GND of the BNC-Plug.

Note

Please check your SWR before using the antenna to ensure you have a good match with your transceiver before use.

The Wurth core is more efficient on the higher bands above 20m.
