What’s new in V2
Choice of connector – Now available with either BNC or SO-239 connections, allowing you to match your antenna perfectly to your transceiver setup.  Please send a note with your preference when ordering or we will send a BNC model.
Improved wire routing – The antenna wire now feeds through the centre core of the winder, providing better strain relief—especially when using lighter wires.
Optimised spool design – A narrower but deeper spool improves balance and increases wire capacity, now supporting operation on the 80m band.
Redesigned handle – A new, lighter handle reduces overall weight and improves portability.
Enhanced finish – Rounded edges and improved 3D print quality deliver a more refined and durable product.
Lighter overall weight – Despite being slightly larger, the antenna is lighter, with the 40m version weighing approximately 260g (9oz).
Longer Velcro strap – Provides improved flexibility when mounting, especially on fibreglass poles.
 
Design & Performance
Inspired by a fly fishing reel, the FlyTenna integrates the transformer into the centre of the winder, housed securely between two side plates with a built-in handle for easy deployment.
Built around a Fair-Rite 49:1 (2643102402) core, the antenna delivers over 90% efficiency across the 40m to 10m bands.

The FlyTenna V2 is an excellent choice for portable operation, supporting up to 100W SSB and 25W data modes, all in a compact, fly-reel-inspired design that ensures smooth and reliable deployment.
